STRESS MANAGEMENT

“RELEASING STRESS EMPOWERS YOU TO
REACT IN HEALTHIER WAYS”
DR. DEAN ORNISH
ALL OF US HAVE STRESS.
IT IS HOW WE MANAGE OUR STRESS THAT COUNTS.
The autonomic nervous system has two divisions – sympathetic – controls our stress response and parasympathetic – controls the opposite or relaxation response.

When we experience stress, we may notice increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, increased stomach acid resulting in stomach pain, heartburn etc. or feelings of anxiety, anger, depression etc. There are many possible effects of stress – this is just a sample!
The parasympathetic nervous system undoes these effects – decreasing blood pressure, improving digestion, gaining feelings of calm, tranquility etc.
To manage stress you need daily practice, a routine, a time to relax, and the right mental attitude.
